Not sure why my previous post was removed i only asked a question that is important to millions of players. I would appreachiate it if someone would tell me why it was removed!

What will be done to prevent bots in Pantheon to prevent them harming immersion and the ingame economy?

Bot prevention can either make or break a game so it is a very important topic to discuss.

Sharing details on how to prevent bots would make it easier for the bots to get around the protections - unless the information given would be obvious and public.

It is really too early to go into detail anyway, even if they wanted to give the details. Suffice it to say they do not want bots and will make reasonable efforts to prevent/restrict them.

I think your thread was removed because it has been addressed before in previous threads and with some comments by the devs, which can be searched for by interested parties (anyone seen Bazgrim today?). From what I remember they have said that they have learned from previous MMOs and will be keeping vital information server side as much as possible to make botting difficult and they will make playing the game engaging and challenging enough that having an automated passive system won't work so well. If you're worried about the exact details, then dorotea's point applies that they shouldn't explain the specifics of how they're going about bot prevention.

    Reporting for duty!

I suspect you're right, Ainadak, that the thread was removed because this topic has been discussed many, many times over the past 3-4 years of the game's development and VR's statements on this are readily available:

    From the FAQ:

10.3 Some MMOs have been notorious for sending way too much information to the client. How does the development team plan on combating past programs like ShowEQ and MacroQuest?

We are keenly aware of this issue. With Pantheon, we’ve been building the client's architecture from day one to be as dumb as possible and only sending the bare minimum of information.

10.5 Will players be able to make ‘macros’?

There will be plenty of / (slash) commands that players can assign to hot keys. Likewise, the GUI will be customizable. However, players will not be able to create hotkeys that automate playing their character nor chain a long list of commands together.

10.6 Will we be able to customize our own UI in-game without add-ons?

Yes, the UI will be customizable and skinnable. We will likely avoid, however, true scripting languages that might allow a player to create macros that automate gameplay.

    From Kilsin:

"We have discussed topic this numerous times and each time in ends in a lot of back and forth of personal opinion, so please keep in mind that it is both the players and our responsibility to handle this, there are many different ways and it is a bit too early for us to be discussing this in an official capacity, but once we get the game to a launch state we will have security measures and other protocols in place to prevent and catch things like this but we will also rely heavily on the community to report cheaters and botters. We are creating the game well aware of these people and will do our best to defend against it.

Any previous experiences players may have had with cheating in other games cannot be fairly compared to Pantheon as our game has not released to the public yet, so please keep that in mind when posting your thoughts."

    (Source: https://www.pantheonmmo.com/content/forums/topic/4308/cheating-and-botting-in-mmos ;)

"It is tough on the Devs too, the more secure and thorough the anti-cheat needs to be, the more intrusive it needs to be and then there is all kinds of privacy issues which a lot of companies do not want to risk breaching, therefore, they tolerate some cheats more than others, not because they want too but because it could hurt them quite badly if they went after them too hard.

It really does suck, I would prefer a more intrusive method via installing software on my PC to allow the game to be more thorough in detecting cheating software but many do not want that but still cry foul over hacks and cheaters and so the vicious circle continues, usually with some half-measures to stop the obvious hacks/cheaters while the more complicated and technical ones go undetected unless physically seen in-game."

    (Source: https://www.pantheonmmo.com/content/forums/topic/3253/anti-cheat-precautions ;)

Don't expect them to go into a whole lot of detail about the steps they're taking, as that would completely undermine their efforts as cheaters and hackers would then know how to counter their strategies. But as you can see from these quotes, just rest assured knowing that it is an issue VR has been more than aware of since the beginning and will be taking it seriously. They have plenty of experience in the industry and care about the welfare of the game, so it's really not something to be worried about.

Who is this guy and who is he working for? (Bazgrim)

JK, great recap. I tend to have difficulties using the search engine correctly, so I genuinely answered the first topic, but that's true pantheon's forum have been on since 2014, and many questions have already been adressed.

The previous one was removed due to Bazgrims post above and how many times it has been discussed, argued over, closed, been given official replies etc. It only ever ends in tears for some, so please use the search function, like Bazgrim has kindly done, to show you how many threads are on this topic and join in on an already existing one, rather than start a new one, please.
