Community Spotlight: Dullahan

1) What is your main character's in-game name and how did you come up with it?

The dullahan is pretty much a staple in fantasy lore. I think the thing that made me choose it was camping dullahans in an old Square game called Saga Frontier. I vaguely recall they had rare items that I spent quite a bit of time farming (yes, I farmed rare items in single player games. I had this sickness before EQ). Seems it made an impression on me because shortly thereafter I started using it for character names in other games.

2) What interests you the most about Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen?

The thing that interests me most about Pantheon is this idea that there can be a massive, dangerous fantasy world that I cannot hope to discover without the help of other people. One which is immersive that I can truly get lost in and that, by virtue of the great risk associated with reward, I can only hope to see, do and achieve a small part of what is available to me.

All of these things (the risk, the exclusivity, and the social elements) have been severely lacking in the MMORPGs available today. I hope to once again experience them with Pantheon.

3) What will your main race and class be and why?

I am really spur of the moment so I can't say for certain. I have played mostly DPS characters like rogues and wizards in the past, but I wouldn't be against playing something different in Pantheon. In recent years I've felt compelled to play clutch roles like the healer or tank for the ability to save the day and be heralded by my compatriots as a hero.

4) What is your favorite system, mechanic or feature so far in Pantheon?

It pains me to talk of only one feature I look forward to, but with that said, I think the NPC Dispositions and Behaviors has huge potential to change the way we think of MMOs. Right now, we are in a sort of doldrums induced by senseless repetition and a lack of variation. Particularly in games driven so heavily by combat. Advancing NPC AI will give MMORPGs much-needed depth and dynamics, so even though we may only play in a single location during a play session, there's the potential for many unique scenarios to keep us on our toes.

That should always be the goal of the MMORPG, whether in or out of combat.

5) If you could enter the game and visit anywhere in Terminus for 1 hour, where would you go and why?

Easy. This place. It's called Amberfaet according to the screenshots page. I've heard no talk of it and know nothing about it, but it looks amazing and mysterious. I can't wait to explore the place for myself.

6) Finally, if you had to choose between living as a Goblin in a filthy cave or roaming the lands as a giant rat with only three legs what would you choose and why?

Probably the goblin. I can always clean up the cave, but I cannot grow back a missing limb as a rat and fleeing from eager adventurers on only 3 legs seems unlikely
