This is a great idea. I really want to play a fat dwarf...like orca fat...maybe one that sweats and grunts profusely in battle. Really hope we get some customization options.

It depends on what race you pick :) You may be able to make a chunky Human Rogue or Dwarf Rogue, but a Gnome Rogue.. probably not lol. But it still remains to be seen what the upper limits of the weight slider will be for the different races. From Istuulamae:

"We will have race-specific sliders that will allow for reasonable and appropriate variance. But I appreciate the feedback as always. I can't say whether or not the norms of the final iteration will be more to your liking, but I can say that we're not done tinkering with proportions, relative size and so on."

While it could be feature creep this would be nice for certain races based on lore or just set body types like in SWTOR. Sure SWTOR didn't have enough choices, tiny and scrawny, mid height and scrawny, tall and muscular and fat, its a nice start.

Agree agree agree! Not enough fat people options in games. Let me play some fat piece of crap or a muscular guy but a huge belly. I know I know. The issue is how this will all look with gear. So sad. I want fat people...

I wonder how many calories one has to eat to be fat after one just spent 3 hours running with armor/equipment/backpack and 6 hours fighting with said equipment still on them...

I think this comes down to a question of how extensive character creation will be. I'm really hoping for an in-depth character creation system. It seems like it shouldn't be too demanding for a wide range of systems (just look at FFXIV, which is on consoles and has super in-depth character creation), and I see no reason to keep it limited. The worst feeling in a game like an MMORPG is coming across others and realizing that it seems the world is full of one family that has thousands of brothers and sisters that look similar.

Hopefully all body shapes will be possible, but I think a requirement that if you make a fat rogue, all video must be shared of the "oh, Sh*t!" moments and you running away.

The scaling options will probably be more realistic than silly. I remember EQ2 allowed some really ridiculous scaling that made characters look like scary abominations, lol.

If you want to be fat, then that shouldn't be sn issue. But I doubt you'll be able to play a 5 foot 7, 600 ppund human... If you're 5'7 ish, I imagine the sliders will have a maximum fatness of say 250 pounds or so.
This is a fantasy medieval based mmorpg. How many fat adventurers, fighters, rogues, knights, bards actually existed during those times? Not many if any at all.

Just to throw in my 2cp, I would actually prefer body types to be based on stats and in game choices. Putting all your stats in STR? Give more musculature. Eat too many sticky buns, grow your belly.
If I have a str of 5, I probably shouldn't look like a body builder.

I think that would be great, making character pretty diverse depending if they chose to be optimized or not.

One of the grand theft auto games had this mechanic actually.

This is possibly the most important post on this forum. I wholeheartedly agree that we need a size or fat scale. I just want a huge damn front butt on my character.

i‘ll have you know my svirfneblin has quite the pot belly. It helps me blend in with the rocks. I got quite fat on my riches giving (often one way) tours of the underdark.

I really don't like how games don't let larger races be sneaky classes. I get it, but I hate it.
I have ALWAYS wanted to be a minotaur axe rogue. I'm aware that minotaurs aren't even in this game (yet).
I was so excited when WoW gave rogues the abilities to use axes, but they never let tauren be rogues.
Just let me be a damn minotaur axe rogue, damn it.

yes I agree it makes no sense that a race that is taller than most even while ducking couldn’t be a rogue. Not to mention a Minotaur and Tauren have hooves. Those dont make any sound going across anything except dirt.

SMOKE BOMB! full gallop *click clack click clack click clack*

enemy: YOURE OVER THERE NOW WE STILL SEE YOU!

    Minotaur: nay!
