I plan on making this as my alt most likely, but if I couldn't do my Gnome Enchanter, I would most likely do Halfing Bard. I'm really in love with the way you guys made the halflings and intend on making one when I get in game. I also love what you guys did with the Gnomes. I mean, my goodness, you just added a different kind of story to characters that have already existed in previous games and gave them a little spin while still keeping some of their previous look/back story.
I hope the people in PA do an amazing job finding some important bugs or glitches that need to be addressed, and I hope you guys can fix em without breaking the game! Lets all hope for a smooth PA test and an even smoother transition into Alpha. :) I look forward to joining you guys in Alpha!
EDIT: Any chance for some cute braided pigtail buns on some halfings? I think they would look adorable and totally add to their playfulness/childlike appearance.
Backup class? Surely you jest. Rogue or die.
Hm that's a good question. In the past, my "main alt" (for lack of a better term) is usually a tank - most likely a Warrior. I don't play alts much at all, but sometimes it's good to get a change of pace from healing and tanking does just that. However, lately I've become more interested in the Monk class. Seems like a really fun versatile class. So I'd probably go with that.
Short answer? I have no freakin' idea.
I'm trying to resist answering a different, possibly related question "What was your favourite alt class in previous games?". I raided for years in EQ with an Erudite enchanter main. On P99 I had a mage main. In EQ2 I think my main was a Kerran warrior. In Vanguard it was a druid. In every game though, I always had a dwarven cleric as a top alt. I don't know if I'd be happy long term as a cleric main. That's going to depend on how versatile clerics are and whether end-game clerics end up just sitting facing a wall clicking the same macro over and over for CHEAL rotation. I have enjoyed a variety of main classes over the years. I don't have a single class which I would identify as a favourite to remove that from the list of alternates.
There just isn't enough information available yet for me to decide on a preferred main class for Pantheon. By definition then, I don't know what my second choice is. Just as the gnomes of Terminus aren't like gnomes from past games, I don't have any expectation that druids, enchanters, clerics... are going to be like previous games. Pantheon is fresh, new and innovative, so what may have been a pet peeve about a class in a previous game may not exist in Pantheon and that class may become my new favourite. I don't think we should assume that similar class names mean that you already know what life on Terminus is going to be like for that class. Not only are the classes not guaranteed to be clones of previous games, there are totally new mechanics in Pantheon which may radically alter how those classes are played.
I'm trying not to pre-judge as it's very much a race/class combo which pulls me into the game. The Pantheon matrix has a few new combos that I want to have a really close look at and there are a couple of missing which I'm silently mourning the loss of. I'm definitely going to kick a few tires before I lock down any particular class selections and base my decisions on what Pantheon offers, not what I've done in the past.

Lol if i couldnt play paladin, i would simply roleplay myself into yalls office in shiny armor, well protecting the innoence from that blasphemy, lol but seriously i would probably roll a rogue, or druid, depending on how the druid is introduced.
I think my favourite class tends to be something melee DPS, preferably with a pet. Barring the ability to respec into a workable DPS (as many have espoused is the case,) healers are out, and tanks are out. I did okay as a Sorcerer in Vanguard, though my favourite was a Shaman. But, for Pantheon? I might give a Ranger a try, if I were forced to choose my non-fav class. Really, I don't know enough about how the classes play, or what features they have, to say which is and is not my favourite class for Pantheon. But, (aside from the actual testing,) that's what Beta is for, is it not? ;)
Currently the plan is to play a chanter. If I couldn't play that I'd probably go wizard.
My main is usually a caster and I like to go melee for alts...so if I already have a caster I'd likely try a monk.
Like others have said, I won't finalize my decision until we see stats and other info.

..........I know not of this "go-to class" of which you speak! 'Tis a foreign concept to those of us from Altoholicvania! (I'm not only a citizen, I'm also the president!)
Don't really have a back-up class. I play Monks. If monks are not available, I find the class that is the most similar to monks and if that doesn't work out, the game normally doesn't work out.
After that, alts are selected based on how they can service the main character which is the Monk.
