Another beautiful screenshot PSA for the segregation of Arboreal from Hardened Mineral...  Tree and Rocks should have the same right to take up shared space as any other combination of silly and completely natural things.  You have Gnomes with no meat on them and confused Ogres who can't even eat them.  Surely you have room to embrace the blessed Union of Rocks and Trees...

Not quite sure what you're asking for..landscape doesn't necessarily accomodate both in certain areas.   Hence a treeline on a mountain..trees can't grow up further due to the conditions higher up ..on the rock.

And that is a natural occurrence.

The climate above the tree line of mountains is called an alpine climate, and the terrain can be described as alpine tundra. ... The decrease in air temperature due to increasing elevation causes the alpine climate.

Well if you are going to twist my arm...  I guess I should post examples of what I mean.

    Like this Juniper:  https://www.colourbox.com/preview/2573512-juniper-tree-on-rock.jpg

Or this glorious Pine that appears to be heavy into flinstones cosplay: https://i.pinimg.com/736x/a4/b3/35/a4b335d5be0e7034d291cc490c3fec07--earth-science-rock-on.jpg ; (this link can't be edited now... but copy paste works)

Or this Pine here with the eye of the tiger: http://www.wallpaperup.com/uploads/wallpapers/2013/08/20/136287/bbf6d20f2d4146d58c37ffee235e1d99.jpg

And don't get me started on this sassy old timer: http://lh5.ggpht.com/_7pkjN7kWILc/TGbPQIwmU3I/AAAAAAAABBs/6-LstB0C1OQ/Treeonrock_thumb1.jpg?imgmax=800

Let's not leave out the proto trees like this over achieving coconut: http://www.traveladventures.org/countries/trinidad-and-tobago/images/paria-bay08.jpg

And then there is the massive Evergreen EDM scene and these Mineral hosted Rave Mountains: https://www.rei.com/adventures/assets/adventures/images/trip/gallery/northamerica/rma_01

Trees and Rocks, they party.  And we shouldn't judge.

Also, technically the only place trees aren't found are in places with permanent snow, or on glaciers.  And all species of tree, have their own tree lines that are not relative to maximum tree elevation.  Trees are complex organisms with lots of rules.

All I am saying, is none of those rules, prevent trees from growing on top of rocks, or on cliffs.  The only places on Earth that trees can't grow, are permanently cold, or permanently hot.  Some tree even manage very close to the edge of both extreme boundaries.  Trees sort of "bunch up" against natural boundaries to form a "tree line" no matter that boundary is to the specific species.

Maybe I just like trees and rocks, because it's always funny to me to see these video games draw a hard line between trees and rocks, when I grew up in a place where trees sometimes just grow on your roof, or out the branch of another tree...  Trees on rocks is just how trees are at the foot of a mountain.  It just takes me out of the environment to see bare rocks without at least bird poop on them, and at least a few scattered trees just proving to the Universe that they can do what they want.

I can't get over how much better the textures look just with a different shader. The stone archway really pops. Also looks like a nice place to sit under the shade of that tree.

I want to see a side-by-side with a "lantern suggested" scene.  To see how the new shaders handle darkness with flickering firelight.  The stark shade under the tree looks like you could cut a slice off it.  Very nice.

Looking at the city made me wonder if there will be any tall buildings inside the city, like cathedrals, towers, castles etc, or if the city walls are just massive and hide most of the tall buildings.

It looks really good. I'm glad we didn't have to wait long to check out the hard work being put in.

The clouds are astounding, I thought I'd walked outside! Can't wait to see how the weather system turns out. Great to hear there's another stream coming up very soon too, I'm definitely going to watch that many times over.
