How much time do you think they spend playing after they've done some work?
Play testing is part of the process so it needs to happen.
Monday morning Tod and Robert arrive at work. Do 4 hours of programm, go to lunch, after lunch another hour of programming and then they're like. Time to test, and spend the last 3 hours of the day "play testing". Tim comes over at 3:30 for the scheduled testing time and Tod and Robert are like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Honestly though, as work progresses, how to you guys handle it? Program two lines and load up the game to see if it worked?
hopefully they have some QA guys testing 9 to 5 and the programming guys do some programming 9 to 5.
They can all trow in some extra testing after work :)
like all the big companies :)

They have in-house testers...Haskar :) Like any other game developer. Exterior testers will be those of us invited to test in Pre-alpha. SOON (tm)
Moved to Off-Topic, we jump in and test often as a team, with our QA testers to get as much information as possible after new client builds but what we do is much more technical, you folks will be a huge help to us once we are ready for pre-alpha and we will be relying on you all throughout all testing sessions to help us get the game to where we need it :)
