    Hey guys!

Here is the link to our April Dev Roundtable, I hope you all enjoy it as much as we have.

I apologise for the push-to-talk noises and people entering/exiting chat, I accidentally turned Streamer mode off and they all get recorded in OBS!

Here is the link to the Dev Roundtable recording for April for those who missed it live - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31VedSD8-2k&feature=youtu.be

    Enjoy! :)

The noises aren't that bad as far as audio issues go. At least they're not loud. This is a good roundtable.

The community is going to love this one! We have our reaction to this one going live now, as we were waiting for this roundtable to go public:

I made this down in the Champion forum, so moving it up here for easier searching for those interested. Baz also has a nice summary of things up on his YouTube channel as well.

    1:39

Q: Will there be a way to customize crafted items? A trademark or coat of arms?

    https://youtu.be/31VedSD8-2k?t=99

    4:54

(This comes with some teasers on items)

Q: Can you share your thoughts on why you feel avoiding level requirements on gear creates a much more vibrant and player driven economy? And how does that decision delay or minimize item deflation?

    https://youtu.be/31VedSD8-2k?t=294

    11:42

(The question was a bit garbled but I got the jist. It was a follow-up on the previous. But this question also led to some discussion on item scaling. Think the soft level caps in EQ where you could use any item but with some soft limitations on their benefits based on the character's level. There's also some discussion about items and how they work with the acclimation system. So it's a bit of a broad discussion.)

Q: How does that reinforce the situational gear differentiator?

    https://youtu.be/31VedSD8-2k?t=702

    17:05

(This one is more on the game design elements than gameplay. It touches on the creation of several of Pantheon's features like the climate, disposition, and Perception systems. A good one if you're just curious about the thoughts on their design and experiencing their creation process as well as how some ideas pan out and some don't.)

Q: Are there any creative decisions that have really stood out for you or have really drastically changed the world and how players interact with it?

    https://youtu.be/31VedSD8-2k?t=1025

    11:21

(For the cooks out there.Short and sweet.)

Q: Will each race have distinctive cuisines? Like different provisioning recipes?

    https://youtu.be/31VedSD8-2k?t=1400

    24:18

(Kilsin accidently muted himself here so when the answer starts nobody had any idea what the question was. Luckily he later realized and asked about a minute in and we got the question. While there's not much actually revealed about the question as some things not implimented may still be added or tweaked for later, we can all at least point and laugh at Kilsin.) ;)

Q: What is one creative idea that was in the wishlist for the team that will not be implimented or was shelved that was perhaps a hot topic during any particular period of internal discussion? Something that you thought was a great idea that just didn't make it through?

    https://youtu.be/31VedSD8-2k?t=1458

    26:44

(This question also touches on in-game events that happen periodically in the game world and how some things in the world will change as a result. It's surface level stuff as they can't go deep into detail yet, but there's a good bit of teasing.)

Q: Do you envision zones occurring periodically in the game like taking AvP for example? Raids on a human town from either BRK or the orcs where players can gather resources to bolster the town's defenses, walls or watchful archer's tower? Others can craft gears or weapons to upgrade the militia or Thronefast tires of the forces of evil and offers bounties to clear out bandits or orcs?

    https://youtu.be/31VedSD8-2k?t=1604

    32:46

Q: Is there still room for creative brainstorming or is the team so focused on implimentation that any new grand imagnings must be held in check? Please elaborate if possible on mechanic systems that allow you some flexibility.

    https://youtu.be/31VedSD8-2k?t=1966

    37:31

(Joppa touches on the music and how he wants to get someone that can be dedicated to creating music full time as he is too busy with creative duties to give it the attention it deserves. Options are being explored on that.)

Q: Can we expect you to make more awesome music in coming expansions and might VIP or a special pledge include your music in some way?

    https://youtu.be/31VedSD8-2k?t=2251

    40:52

(While Joppa couldn't answer this one extensively, he does give a few examples of how VR hopes to deal with some of this while emphasizing the importance of doing so.)

Q: Over the years there has been a lot of community debate around farming, competition, and the player behavior that results. While many of us want an open-world experience, we're also weary of re-introducing some of the social problems that can occur when everything is a free-for-all. What are some of the mechanics or mechanisms that Pantheon will use to try and keep the middle ground between having everything be heavily contested or completely isolated? Things like triggers, dynamic spawns, stuff like that?

    https://youtu.be/31VedSD8-2k?t=2452

    45:15

(Joppa touches on the boss fight lockout from the recent stream and the flaws in the current lockout system. While not going into detail, he notes it's just one thing being used while others are in the works.)

Q: It was great to see from the stream yesterday that the boss has some pseudo-instance lockout as in the rock door, the boulder that comes down whenever the boss is aggroed. Can we expect to see more of this pseudo-instancing for other dungeons/instances?

    https://youtu.be/31VedSD8-2k?t=2715

    47:21

(Joppa started this answer by saying mobile and I threw up a little. lol But he does touch on the devs views on certain systems that may allow for more simplified casual short-term play.)

Q: Are there any plans to allow for AFK activities such as fishing or processing materials? I feel this is very important for those that have limited time.

    https://youtu.be/31VedSD8-2k?t=2841

    49:00

(Kilsin just loosly addressed a question relating to graphical settings for those that were curious about turning down spell effects.)

    https://youtu.be/31VedSD8-2k?t=2940

    50:35

(This one revisits the rare skills and spells that will be sought out in the world in some way with Joppa hinting at possibly 30-40% of skills or spells may need to be sought out at higher levels. Of course, numbers may change as development continues.)

Q: There is a stated intent that some abilities and spells will need to be sought out from the world. Since this will increase the variety of ability sets for a given class and hence reduce cookie-cutterness to what a class brings to the table. To what degree do the team see this taking? Will this account for a small or more significant portion of abilities as you move up in level?

    https://youtu.be/31VedSD8-2k?t=3035

    52:31

    (Class love discussions.)

Q: What are Joppa and Kilsin's favorite classes to play so far?

    https://youtu.be/31VedSD8-2k?t=3151

(Quick fire yes or no questions from the VIPs at the round table were next but there was not a yes or no answer beyond the first. lol No problem and I wrote a few out but I got tired of writing after we got to the chanter question, so we're back to links people!)

    55:54

    https://youtu.be/31VedSD8-2k?t=3354

Q: Will druids be able to affect lightning strikes?

    A: Yes

    56:11

Q: Can Joppa clarify if the 24 raid limit he mentioned in a previous stream is part of balancing encounter challenge or because of engine limitation?

    https://youtu.be/31VedSD8-2k?t=3371

Q: Will day/night cycle have an affect on random spawns?

A: Yes. We answered this and there will be things that will happen at day and not at night and vice versa.

Q: Speaking of the acclimation glyphs; is there any way that those exist visually on the character and each glyph has a unique style

A: I would love for that to be the case because they are essentially meant to be like inscriptions or these magical writings or markings that remove themselves from the surface that they're on naturally and apply themselves to the player. So if there is a way visually to represent that you better believe we're going to go for it.

    58:29

Q: Are enchanter charmed pets going to be weaker at all? Or will some other system be used to offset the charmed mob aside from random charmed breaks? Please don't nerf mob damage.

    https://youtu.be/31VedSD8-2k?t=3509

    1:00:44

    (Necrard ftw)

Q: How many of the team are Bard advocates and do they outnumber team Necro?

    https://youtu.be/31VedSD8-2k?t=3644

    1:01:07

Q: Will we see any abilities showcasing dual-targeting besides tank rescues?

    https://youtu.be/31VedSD8-2k?t=3667

Everything beyond here is pretty much wrap-up. Enjoy! No refunds...;p

When do we actually get to start playing BETA? Alpha testing went out over a year ago. I have never paid for something and then a YEAR AND A HALF LATER still not be able to access it. At what point we we start being able to claim fraud?

I get stuff is still being worked on. At least give the people who pledged hundereds of dollars something worth their while instead of another update video!! I want to interact with the Pantheon community IN GAME!

    Please, post something useful!

Pre-alpha went out December 2017. They're still in pre-alpha currently with "maybe" 2 more pre-alpha test phases. So Alpha has yet to start. Their main focus right now is completing Project Faerthal, which will be the first area mostly core feature complete. When that's ready to go, we'll likely see the launch of alpha, which the devs are aiming with Project Faerthal to be closer to a beta in quality and feature when it launches. So that alpha, if all goes as planned, will be closer to a beta in quality. If we're lucky, we might see that later this year but that's not confirmed or anything. Waiting is always the tough part.

Not sure yet but if it helps development of an MMORPG typically can take anywhere from 5-6 years with some wiggle room in either direction based on the size of the game and the size of the team. Make of that what you will.

MMOs with teams of 100's of people maybe.

Hence the wiggle room. But this one also isn't fully voiced or sporting Unreal 4 levels of animation and overly complicated PvP mechanics, so there's that. Either way at the current pace we're likely not to see a full release earlier than 2021 at the earliest. Maybe we'll get alpha this year...maybe.

    Joppa at 36:33

"I think the world at large is just as tired of hearing us talk about the things we want to do as we are."

Such candid earnest self-awareness is delightful. They know, and they know we know. Although I am puzzled by some of the more surprising gaffes (e.g. no new content in stream in newsletter and retraction).

That fits nobodies definition of 'wiggle room'.
